Job Family Summary

The Product Operations’ Project Management job family is accountable for improved business results by providing enhanced decision making support and execution excellence.  This job family includes roles responsible for developing and executing major programs, implementing projects, designing and enhancing processes, and overseeing Territory, Region and Product Line portfolios.  Individuals in this job family work closely with actuarial and quantitative analysts, underwriting and coverage consultants, as well as business sponsors, field contacts and other SMEs to deliver programs/projects on time, within budget and with quality.  Responsibilities include interfacing with actuaries, quantitative analysts, coverage consultants and internal customers in areas such as Technology, State Filings, Marketing, Sales, etc.

 

Job Summary

The Product Management Program Manager role is responsible for leading major product initiatives/programs of varying complexity, as well as the potential for some line portfolio oversight to support operating efficiency.  This individual will ensure strategic program benefits and objectives are achieved by helping to optimize costs, implementation schedules and/or effort, quality, along with supporting leadership in the decision making process.  This role exhibits influence on peers, broader team and outside stakeholders, and contributes to the overall implementation strategy of key initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex, cross-department program initiatives including the program deliverables/state rollout sequencing strategy, scope management, issue/risk management and budget tracking to ensure execution is on schedule, within approved budget and with quality (including the communication/field education plan and system functionality)
  • Determine key stakeholders and develop an appropriate communication plan based on program need and/or stakeholder requests
    • Work with Product departments, Legal, Agency Operations, Marketing, Technology and others across the enterprise to raise awareness and help gain leadership alignment for programs in their early stages
    • Execute communication plan promptly, consistently, and sequentially across stakeholders, adjusting communications based on the audience and utilizing the most appropriate/value added form of communication
  • Participate as a member of program steering committees, demonstrating deep subject matter expertise in program design principles and business strategy to help influence senior leadership decisions
  • Lead the gathering/development of program requirements and work closely with project managers in Product Operations to ensure the necessary planning occurs
  • Lead discussions with Product experts and provide recommendations for the resolution of business issues that impact program schedule, scope, cost or quality
  • Collaborate with technology and operations partners to resolve execution issues and to analyze the long term impact of new or anticipated strategies
  • Monitor business and quality results of programs and escalate where appropriate
  • Identify, recommend and execute on opportunities to promote innovation, create/enhance processes and increase efficiency across the organization
  • Enhance the program/project management skills of others through real-time feedback and mentoring

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrate clear, concise and effective oral and written communication skills, combined with the ability to influence others
  • Ability to concentrate/thrive when a wide range of loosely defined complex situations exist, which require application of creativity and originality
  • Proven ability to effectively facilitate meetings with/presentations to management
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience: 7+ years of relatable insurance industry experience, minimum of 5+ years of product, program management, and/or project management experience preferred
  • Advanced cross-AoR program and/or project management and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Allstate objectives, structure, policies and procedures
  • Ability to establish, manage and leverage relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to collaborate across boundaries to implement decisions and/or initiatives in an integrated manner
  • Ability to think strategically, conceptually and analytically
  • Ability to analyze and interpret concepts and data; Ability to solve problems
  • Intermediate change management and process design/management skills
