Continuous Improvement & Industrial Engineering Careers

We empower the company to meet its goals while positively impacting the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of the work done at Allstate.

Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering Careers at Allstate

We help Allstate run more efficiently, with better processes and more streamlined workflows, to ensure that the entire organization is functioning at its pinnacle of performance.

Why work in Continuous Improvement or Industrial Engineering at Allstate?

  • Our teams focus on opportunities to collaborate, influence, and coach.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to consult with different business areas and drive impact throughout the company.
  • In our Continuous Improvement (CI) group, you’ll use a hypothesis-driven approach to ambiguous issues using data-intensive analytical thinking, and you’ll conduct major diagnostic analyses and synthesize findings.
  • As an Industrial Engineer (IE), you’ll act as a project manager, a leader, a data scientist, a process expert, and a consultant. And while some companies only have one or two IEs, here you’ll work on teams to challenge and be challenged by a group of talented peers. In addition to efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and forecasting, we participate in strategic projects that influence core processes on a large scale.

What’s essential to know about working in CI and IE here?

  • We concentrate on customer focus, transparency, empowerment, challenging the status quo, thought leadership, and collaborative problem solving.
  • Collaboration is part of who we are. We work on teams to provide the best results to our partners.
  • We’re all actively growing our careers. We teach and learn from each other to reach our personal and team goals.

What unique perks & benefits are there for CI and IE?

  • In our CI group, you’ll have the opportunity to travel and work with leaders and colleagues at various Allstate office locations to effectively collaborate, influence, and coach.
  • In our Industrial Engineering group, there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements, such as working remotely from home once a week or as individual schedules permit.

What impact do CI and IE have on our business and customers?

The insurance marketplace is more competitive than ever. To position us for long-term success and take Allstate to the next level, we invest in our people and our business. Continuous Improvement and Industrial Engineering improves the customer experience, agency owner experience, and business outcomes by empowering employees to change how work gets done.

What types of roles & educational backgrounds are included in CI and IE?

CI is made up of three teams: the Deployment team, the Methodology team, and the Sustainability team.

As Allstate’s literal Change Agents, our CI Deployment team is responsible for deploying the CI management system with the objective of working with business units to use the five CI lenses of process efficiency, organizational health, performance management, organizational design/skills, and the customer/agency owner experience.

As Trainers, the CI Methodology team maintains organization continuity by developing and maintaining systems that support Continuous Improvement talent management, training and development, and deployment planning.

As Allstate’s Sustainability Coaches, our CI Sustainability team ensures that the business matures in its use of our CI management system by assessing the effectiveness of the system post deployment, identifying and prioritizing development gaps, and developing and deploying action plans to address those gaps.

Our CI teams possess:

  • Strategic planning experience
  • Frontline team leadership experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement background
  • Experience in training and coaching frontline employees and leaders
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change effort preferred
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading/facilitating/or participating in medium complex projects, involving ambiguity with input into the strategic planning experience

In our IE group, we have roles for data analysts, junior and senior project managers, and growth opportunities through multiple levels of team and department leadership. Our team members have a background in IE via school and experience. We highly value the combination of technical skills combined with the communication and leadership skills. If you enjoy spending a day in Excel, Minitab, R, and Python—and then presenting your findings to a leader to help them improve their business—this could be the right place for you.
