Job Description

The Category Management Lead Consultant is a key role supporting category strategies as a subject matter expert with a focus on internal and external data assembly and analysis. The role requires coordination of ongoing category management intelligence, effectively analyzing spend within categories, undertaking market research and internal demand analysis to inform and influence category strategies. Works closely with category managers to impact development of category strategy, category integration and proactively analyzing long term impacts of strategy to develop innovative solutions in support of category objectives. The category scope for this role is focused on the following indirect spend categories: data, business intelligence and financial services (corporate card & p-card, payment card processing, lockbox services and collections).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops category strategies by analyzing data and developing key insights working collaboratively with business stakeholders
  • Leverages quantitative and qualitative internal and external category information and deep subject matter expertise to direct category maintenance and oversight
  • Coordinates with multiple support teams to drive category initiative implementation, and lead category program and process outcomes
  • Collaboratively influences and integrates category demand plans and category purchasing adherence utilizing syndicated data
  • Utilizes industry and future trend analysis to identify opportunities to implement strategic change to supplier relationships and supplier quality measures.
  • Socializes category metrics (Value Tracking, KPI’s, SLA’s, etc.), monitors and reports on realized value, category performance and category adherence by communicating accountabilities for adherence tracking, analysis and reporting.
  • Facilitates and communicates category objectives, initiatives and non-adherence with cross-functional stakeholders and oversight committees.

This job does not have direct supervisory duties

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 or more years of procurement experience
  • Experience and subject matter expertise in one or more of the in-scope spend categories is strongly preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPSM and/or C.P.M. desirable

Functional Skills

  • Deep experience in category management and procurement leadership roles with accountability for global value delivery
  • Experience driving value in large global procurement organization by analyzing long term impact of new or anticipated strategies and developing actionable insights.
  • Expert ability to transform data into insights by pulling data from different areas with the goal of creating a compelling story.
  • Expert communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent project management, prioritization and resource utilization abilities
  • Advanced change management and customer service excellence mindsets.
  • Experience working in an agile work environment
