Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Expense Consultant to join our dynamic Finance team. In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to our expense management function, supporting financial reporting, month-end close activities, variance analysis, and the preparation of executive-level reporting materials. You’ll be working within a collaborative team of 7 and will be expected to engage with a wide variety of business stakeholders to drive clarity, accuracy, and financial discipline across departments.
Accountabilities

Support month-end close activities, including journal entry reviews and variance analysis

Investigate and explain differences between actuals and plan, identifying key drivers
-
Prepare monthly departmental expense review packages and deliver insights to business leaders
-
Assist in the development of executive-level reporting materials, including Operating Committee decks
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with various business units and other finance teams to support business needs
-
Ensure alignment with expense ratio targets and identify opportunities for cost optimization
-
Continuously improve processes and reporting accuracy through effective organization and pivoting priorities as needed
Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly
-
Proven ability to engage stakeholders and explain results in a simple, actionable way
-
Advanced analytical skills and experience working with large data sets
-
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills across multiple departments
-
Strong organizational skills with the ability to pivot quickly and manage changing priorities
-
Solid understanding of accounting basics (debits and credits)
-
Experience working in a results-driven environment with significant financial targets
-
CPA designation is an asset
-
Experience in the insurance industry, particularly in FP&A or similar finance roles is an asset
