Job Description
This Application Architect (.NET/C#) role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing robust back-end systems while also engaging in front-end integration when needed. You’ll work directly with multiple development teams, guiding system design, solution architecture, and long-term technical direction across projects. As an Application Architect, you will make decisions on IT architecture issues, coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, and ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented.
This is a hands-on architecture role—you will actively write code, prototype solutions, and lead the technical delivery of systems. The ideal candidate brings strong development experience in C# and .NET Core, with a working knowledge of front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Blazor to support UI integration and design consistency across platforms.
The internal National General job title used for this role is Architect Lead Consultant.
Key Responsibilities

Lead technical architecture for enterprise-level .NET C# applications.

Work on designing scalable APIs, services, and both front-end and back-end systems.

Provide architectural guidance to development teams and project stakeholders.

Assist in integrating with third-party systems, internal services, and cloud platforms.

Ensure alignment with company-wide engineering principles and practices.

Participate in early-stage feature planning and requirement definition.

Advocate effective architectural designs and optimize current architecture and processes.

Assist with identification of opportunities to enhance existing architecture and assist with identification of potential business/customer benefits as a result.

Maintain awareness of current architectures and business drivers and guide their application to initiatives as appropriate.

Drive requirements analysis activities and develop the design of highly complex architectural components for one or more logical and/or physical dimensions. Produce and present documentation for these components.

Recommend when tactical solutions should be replaced or incorporated into sunset and refresh strategies for assigned application(s), project(s) or discipline.

Influence clients and partners to prioritize for enterprise benefit and risk reduction and adopt technology solutions that leverage existing patterns, practices, and reference architectures.
Qualifications

Deep experience in .NET Core / ASP.NET C# application development.

5+ years of experience in software architecture, including designing scalable, maintainable, and secure application architectures in enterprise environments. (Preferred)

Be a hands-on architect who writes code, prototypes solutions, and influences decisions across teams without direct managerial oversight.

Strong understanding of software architecture patterns including DDD, microservices, and event-driven design.

Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Blazor).

Experience integrating with enterprise systems, APIs, and cloud services.

Experience in distributed system design and familiarity with Kubernetes.

Strong collaboration and communication skills across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborate with product, platform, and engineering teams to ensure delivery of high-quality systems.

Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and a bias for action.

Compensation
Base compensation offered for this role is $104,000.00 – $160,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
