Job Description
This role is responsible for delivering core benefit design & planning initiatives to all plan participants by applying professional judgment, knowledge, experience and a broad perspective. The individual will be responsible for managing all aspects of retirement plans and programs including vendor management, compliance, project management, strategic planning and design and communication. In addition, the individual will be responsible for implementing, managing and developing innovative solutions that support the business unit strategy and design by applying thought leadership and their subject matter expertise.
Role Summary
The Manager – Benefits & Wellness will be responsible for designing, administering, and continuously improving Allstate India's employee benefits programs and wellness initiatives. This is a strategic and operational role that requires deep expertise in Indian statutory benefits, market best practices, and holistic employee wellbeing frameworks. The incumbent will partner closely with HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, and global Total Rewards teams to deliver a competitive, compliant, and employee-centric benefits experience.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Program Design & Administration
- Own the end-to-end administration of all employee benefits including Group Health Insurance (GHI), Group Term Life (GTL), Group Personal Accident (GPA), and supplemental coverage plans.
- Lead annual benefits renewals — including vendor negotiations, RFP/RFQ processes, plan redesign, and cost benchmarking — to ensure market competitiveness and fiscal responsibility.
- Manage relationships with insurance brokers, TPAs (Third Party Administrators), and wellness vendors; monitor service delivery SLAs and resolve escalations.
- Ensure seamless enrolment processes for new joiners, life events (marriage, childbirth, etc.), and annual open enrolment windows.
- Maintain and update benefits documentation, employee-facing communications, and FAQs on the HR portal.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory benefits including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Gratuity, Maternity Benefit Act, and Professional Tax.
- Monitor regulatory changes from EPFO, ESIC, IRDAI, and other authorities; proactively update programs and communicate implications to leadership.
- Liaise with statutory consultants, auditors, and government bodies as required for filings, inspections, and assessments.
- Maintain accurate records for statutory audits and coordinate responses during compliance reviews.
Employee Wellness Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-dimensional employee wellness strategy encompassing physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing.
- Curate and manage wellness vendor partnerships — including EAP (Employee Assistance Programs), telehealth platforms, fitness reimbursements, and mindfulness apps.
- Drive participation in wellness programs through effective communication campaigns, challenges, and manager enablement initiatives.
- Measure wellness program effectiveness using engagement metrics, utilisation data, and employee survey insights; report findings to HR leadership on a quarterly basis.
- Champion mental health awareness within the organisation; coordinate with EAP providers to ensure accessible and confidential support for employees.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Analyse benefits utilisation trends, claims data, and cost metrics to identify opportunities for plan optimisation and cost containment.
- Prepare regular dashboards and reports for HR leadership and Finance, covering benefits spend, renewal outcomes, vendor performance, and wellness engagement.
- Conduct benefits benchmarking surveys and competitive analyses to inform the annual Total Rewards strategy.
- Support HR Analytics team with data for compensation surveys (Aon, Mercer, Willis Towers Watson) covering benefits components.
Employee Experience & Communication
- Design and deliver clear, engaging benefits communication materials — total rewards statements, onboarding guides, benefits booklets, and digital content.
- Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new hires and awareness sessions for the broader employee population.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for employee benefits queries, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
- Collaborate with HRBPs to proactively address benefits-related concerns raised during stay interviews, exit interviews, and pulse surveys.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Projects
- Partner with the Global Total Rewards team to align India benefits with global philosophy, governance standards, and reporting requirements.
- Support M&A, workforce expansion, and restructuring activities from a benefits due diligence and integration perspective.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional HR projects related to Total Rewards, employee experience, and digital HR transformation.
- Manage a team of 1–2 Benefits Analysts; provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field. MBA/PGDM in HR preferred.
- Certifications in Total Rewards (e.g., WorldatWork CEB, GRP) are a strong advantage.
Experience
- 14 years of progressive HR experience with a minimum of 5 years in a dedicated Benefits and/or Total Rewards function.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale Group Health, Life, and Accident insurance programs in a multinational or technology-driven organisation.
- Experience working with statutory compliance (PF, Gratuity, ESI, etc.) in India is mandatory.
- Prior experience in wellness program design and vendor management is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to global/regional Total Rewards governance in a shared services or GCC (Global Capability Centre) environment is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in HRIS platforms (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or equivalent); experience with benefits modules preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Understanding of insurance products, actuarial concepts, and claims management processes.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory benefit regulations.

- Experience working with statutory compliance (PF, Gratuity, ESI, etc.) in India is mandatory.
- Prior experience in wellness program design and vendor management is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to global/regional Total Rewards governance in a shared services or GCC (Global Capability Centre) environment is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in HRIS platforms (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or equivalent); experience with benefits modules preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
- Understanding of insurance products, actuarial concepts, and claims management processes.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory benefit regulations.
