Job Description
The Managing Engineer (C#/ASP.NET) leads a team of software engineers while actively participating in the design, development, testing, and support of enterprise applications built with C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and modern web technologies. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for balancing people leadership, technical leadership, and individual technical contributions to support strategic technology initiatives for Allstate’s Individual Health business.
The Managing Engineer partners closely with Product Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. In addition to managing and developing engineers, this role is expected to contribute code, participate in technical design decisions, perform code reviews, and help resolve complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.

Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and related technologies.

Contribute production-ready code and actively participate in feature development and system enhancements.

Review code and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.

Essential Qualifications

5 years or more of experience developing enterprise applications using ASP.NET and C#. (Or equivalent)

1 year or more of experience leading or managing software engineers. (Or equivalent)

Experience actively designing, developing, and supporting production software applications.

Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and complex T-SQL development.

Experience with front-end technologies such as Vue.js, React, or Angular.

Strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.

Experience with Git, automated testing, and continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
