Job Description
National General Insurance is currently hiring an experienced auto Claims Adjuster to join our Investigative Specialist team. This job is responsible for investigating and analyzing complex, multi-discipline coverage and claims that have been referred to the Investigative Specialist team for potential fraud. This role combines traditional adjuster duties—such as determining liability, damages, and negotiating claims with limit of authority–with investigative responsibilities, including gathering evidence, interviewing involved parties, and identifying potential fraud. The position requires both analytical skills to assess claims accurately and investigative skills to uncover the underlying facts of each case.
Candidates should be located in one of the following Pacific time zone states: CA, AZ, NV, OR, WA.
**The ideal candidate will be available to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)**
Key Responsibilities
• Applies advanced understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department
• Handles investigation regarding all aspects of advanced auto claims (coverage, liability and damages) with the exercise discretion and independence within increased level of authority
• For claims involving injuries (if handled), learns how to review, evaluate, and negotiate basic to moderate injury claims
• Recognizes and identifies body parts of a vehicle and understanding other potential property damage
• Identifies customer needs and works to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills
• Determines subrogation or fraud potential and how to handle
• Applies increased experience in the Adjuster II level or a rotation into a specialty position (Coverage, Investigation Specialist, Total Loss, Initial Handler, Extended Handler, etc.)
Education
• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
Experience
• 2 or more years of experience (Preferred)
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This job does not have supervisory duties.
Education & Experience (in lieu)
• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
