Our team is growing and we are actively looking to hire a motivated, Product Engineer to support our ongoing Guidewire Cloud transformation program. Experienced professionals with competency and knowledge in Guidewire Rating implementations are being sought.
For Guidewire PolicyCenter Rating Product, the Product Engineer will support the Managing Engineer on larger Guidewire engagements, leading team members, ensuring successful execution, alignment with company objectives, and coordination across teams. The Product Engineer will execute and report on delivery assurance, delivery transformation and workforce transformation ideas.
Your primary responsibility will be to support teams in designing and developing Rating implementation and you will be accountable for defining hypotheses and value metrics upfront for Managing Engineer and ACG leadership to take informed and prompt decisions. Although your focus will be on building the Rating Product, it will be important for you to have solid platform knowledge and familiarity with the other systems of record, Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter and ClaimCenter. You will be expected to leverage best practices and tools to create efficient, reliable, scalable and engaging code.
Accountabilities:
- Expert in Guidewire with depth of knowledge within specific tech stacks (application languages, algorithms, database normalization, data structures, common tools).
- Demonstrates extensive abilities and a proven record of success in leading and delivering projects related to Guidewire PolicyCenter in the area of systems configurations and customizations.
- Deeply involved in developing Guidewire cloud concepts to support cloud platform/applications that caters to running all Guidewire applications and services.
- Hands on experience in areas of: Gosu, Guidewire Rating, PCFs, Business Rules, Underwriting Rules and Guidewire Event, Messaging/Rules Framework, Guidewire Integration Framework – Cloud APIs, App Events and Guidewire, Integration Gateway, Guidewire Workflows, Guidewire Advanced Product Designer, Spring Boot Application Development
- Coaches and influences engineering peers by pairing as needed to augment engineering proficiency and quality.
- Relentlessly pursues upgrading skills and proficiency of team members and evaluates competencies, skills, and impact of product team engineers.
- Coaches for design and simplification along with reuse of enterprise tools.
- Co-owns and leads all incident responses and root cause management.
- Participate in product scoping, discovery and framing, and inceptions providing technical input and helps translate user features into system design.
- Provides technical documentation, guidance, and support on platform capabilities.
- Plans, maintains, develops, and deploys highly complex platform software to ensure software is developed correctly for hardware systems and device platform standards.
- Develops and implements platform plans and processes and communicates progress status with stakeholders.
- Automates preventive and corrective routines and procedures for platform maintenance and
determines, monitors, and enhances performance metrics. - Encourages outcome-based technology innovation and invention in partnership with stakeholders.
- Replicates enterprise best practices and standards and explores ways to enhance the. effectiveness of current systems and processes; oversees corrective actions until closure.
- Partners with stakeholders on the implementation of organizational process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineer or equivalent
- Overall, 12+ years of IT experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter. Proven experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter Rating implementation.
- Must have Guidewire Developer PolicyCenter Ace Certification
- Hands-on development proficiency in one of: Java, Gosu, ReactJS, C++, Python or one of these derivatives
- Proven experience in Canadian P&C personal lines insurance
- Strong communication skills required
- Experience in ensuring ITSM ITIL Practices are followed such as Incident management, Problem Management, Change Management
- Should be able to drive discussions and take design level decisions and recommend best practices, finds comfort in modern computing techniques inclusive of TDD, CI/CD, Human-Centered design, code management. Strong bias towards automating any process that repeats
- Experience in enterprise Agile methodology. Strong facilitation and elicitation skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Personal leadership and a desire to create a culture that enables exceptional outcomes.
- Must be willing to drive and work in production support model and ensure application is up and available to meet company goals and customer expectations.
Bonus qualification:
- Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Additional Skills: Familiarity with additional scripting languages (Python, JAVA) and automation tools. Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog) and analytics platforms.
