Job Description
A day in the life of a Complex Field Catastrophe Property Adjuster
- Spend your day handling claims traveling to loss sites that have been damaged by fire, water, weather or other unexpected events as well as virtually from home
- Conduct a detailed inspection of the property and write an estimate to capture the extent of the damages
- Settle large homeowner claims involving complex structure losses as a result of, for example, fire, water, theft, etc.
- When you are not in the field, use advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors to identify damages and write a damage estimate from a virtual setting
- Review the policy and decide how coverage applies and provide the customer with a detailed explanation of both the estimate and the policy
- Communicate empathetically with customers and help them through their claim process in a fast, fair and easy manner
- Negotiate claim settlements with customers in accordance with business unit standard methodologies
- Use data and analytics to tell a story and influence decision making
- Flexibility to work in a variety of environments – independently, within a team, face-to-face, and virtually
- In our virtual environment, adjusters are required to engage and participate on camera during online meetings and training
- Researches and responds to complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
- Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations and decisions making process
- Investigates, reviews, determines and verifies complex coverage/policy information
- Handles complex contents inventories, complex pricing analysis, and mitigation bills, and prepares claims reports
- Handles and occasionally negotiates complex claims that included Public Adjuster involvement
- May serve as a committee team lead for medium-sized projects or as a committee team member on large projects
- Proficient knowledge of all regional construction types and related repair methodologies
- Assists in reviewing files and making recommendations to refer files to Home Office for escalation
Key Responsibilities
- Reinspects complex and occasionally highly complex damage estimates and provides quality evaluation coaching
- Advanced knowledge of all regional construction types and related repair methodologies
- May serve as a committee team lead for large projects or as a committee team member on very large projects
- Acts as a resource to leadership or others on complex and occasionally highly complex claim/coverage matters and high severity claims
- Handles inside investigation of complex and occasionally highly complex mortgagee claims
- Review customer satisfaction results; recommends, designs, and implements personal and business unit action plans
- Manages, researches, and resolves complex and occasionally highly complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
Education
- 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 or more years of property adjusting experience (Preferred)
- Structure experience (Preferred)
- This position is not available for those who reside in California, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico

This job does not have supervisory duties

- This position follows a 10/4 schedule (10 days on, 4 days off) making this a travel heavy role
