Job Description
This job is an integral part of the public equity group and is expected to aid in the management of a relative return mandate, support research effort to drive additional alpha opportunities, and additionally the role is expected to collaborate with portfolio managers across asset classes in constructing optimal factor risks across all public markets. This role will involve working closely with senior portfolio managers, portfolio managers, and research analysts across public and private assets; as our process is very team-oriented, the ability to work well within the group is critical.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the lead portfolio manager, the successful candidate will be expected to focus on the following:
- Act as a support for the approximately $3+ BN relative return public equity mandate and pro-actively position the portfolio in order to outperform mandated benchmark.
- Contribute internal research to assess relative value characteristics of investment opportunities across a wide array of regions, sectors, and factors.
- Contribute to the formation of the top-down investment strategy including macro risk, absolute and relative valuation, earnings monitoring, and technical analysis.
- Engage and participate in an established qualitative and quantitative process; and help to build-out new processes.
- Back-up for daily portfolio management activities including portfolio construction, risk and performance attribution, trading, compliance and reporting, as well as assisting the senior portfolio managers in trading across all portfolios and mandates.
- Monitor and provide timely attribution of performance results both ad-hoc and on a quarterly basis.
- Monitor and manage portfolio characteristics to ensure adherence to strategy and client guidelines.
- Provide insight into public equity Climate and Sustainability strategies
- Develop an understanding of public equity portfolio construction, in conjunction with private assets
- Contribute to the group as a thought leader
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to ensure best execution and management of the portfolios.
- Provide support for internal and external communications and special projects on an ad-hoc basis.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This job does not have supervisory duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related with strong academic record;
- Successful completion, or working toward, CFA and/or MBA a plus
- 3 to 5 years of investment experience in an equity analysis or portfolio management role, preferably with experience in ETFS and single stocks.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- No Certification, License or Registration is required for the job.
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Broad understanding and interest in equity and fixed income markets
- Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources in aiding fundamental analysis
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to be a reliable team player
- Ability to work well with internal and external contacts
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Products and Bloomberg. Experience with Blackrock’s Aladdin trading system and Python is a plus.
