Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders on discovery and clarity in understanding the problem and overall strategy to inform workflows and designs
- Model Development and Integration: Design, build, and validate statistical and machine learning models to address key business problems across domains such as operations, telematics, geospatial analytics, computer vision, and NLP.
- Data Exploration and Analysis: Perform in-depth data exploration and analysis to uncover actionable insights and improve model performance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to understand problems and strategies, ensuring solutions are adopted and scaled.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage end-to-end data science initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery and measurable business impact. Utilize effective project planning techniques to break down complex projects into manageable tasks.
- Mentorship and Development: Assist in the recruitment, selection, mentorship, and development of junior data scientists. Provide technical guidance and lead small technical teams as needed.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging modeling techniques, tools, and technologies, integrating innovative approaches into existing workflows.
- Communication and Influence: Develop and execute communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed and influence business partners and senior leaders on the effectiveness of machine learning solutions.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate and influence outside business units to improve business decisions and results through machine learning models.
Must Have Skills
- Around 8 years of experience in applied data science, with a track record of delivering business value through machine learning solutions.
- Proficiency in Python with experience in libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Strong foundation in statistical analysis, regression modeling, classification techniques, clustering, time series forecasting, hypothesis testing, and multivariate analysis.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP), with strong understanding of MLOps practices such as model versioning, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated retraining workflows.
- Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using distributed data systems such as Hadoop, Hive, or Spark.
- Ability to translate complex, ambiguous business problems into structured data science problems and articulate solution approaches clearly.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with a bias for action.
- Innovation-oriented and proactive in identifying new opportunities for data-driven decision-making.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based project environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and transformer architectures (e.g., GPT, BERT), including prompt engineering or fine-tuning for enterprise use cases.
