Job Description
The Sourcing Senior Consultant II is The Sourcing and Procurement Solutions (SPS) Senior Global Sourcing Specialist is accountable for supporting category strategy development and execution, while primarily accountable for managing a portfolio of sourcing initiatives with medium spend thresholds and complexity, focusing on quality, cost, delivery, risk, sustainability, and diversity. This role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders to align strategies with business objectives and market conditions, challenge and rationalize requirements, including demand and specifications, researching and analyze market and business insights to provide actionable recommendations that drive value creation. The Senior Specialist will work occasionally with experienced colleagues to mature practitioner skills to evolve from employing knowledge (application) to purposeful use of knowledge (proficiency).
The Senior Specialist will lead the sourcing process with frequent guidance and occasional oversight, including bidding, supplier selection, and negotiating commercial agreements. It is essential for the Senior Specialist to be competent in the relevant domain(s)/category(ies) and confidently challenge existing practices while identifying opportunities for improvement using both internal and external insights. Demonstrating competency in procurement, particularly in sourcing, is crucial for building stakeholder confidence and trust to deliver against our commitments and achieve high impact outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of enterprise category strategies that align with business product/technology goals and incorporate relevant market intelligence.
- Proactively identify and drive opportunities, focusing on total cost of ownership.
- Collect and analyze internal and external category data to support data-driven decision making.
- Translate market research competitive insights into high-quality, high-impact procurement solutions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing and/or category strategies that maximize value for Allstate that are aligned to market conditions and stakeholder’s rationalized requirements.
- Provide strategic expertise to achieve optimal outcomes based on market position, stakeholder requirements, and buying customer needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop clear scopes of work and contract metrics (e.g., KPIs, SLAs) for effective negotiations and related contractual outcomes.
- Create and lead negotiation strategies with stakeholders and suppliers and ensure stakeholder alignment, effectively influencing decisions at all levels as required.
- Employ commercial contract competency and contemporary practices to negotiate favorable contract terms in partnership with Allstate Legal, when deemed appropriate.
- Partner with Supplier Management to ensure risk management and supplier performance management practices, ongoing monitoring, and issue resolution, including supplier on-boarding/off-boarding, are incorporated.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers, where appropriate, to maximize value for the company.
- Uphold a competent understanding of contracting and the legal environment to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Prioritize work efforts to maximize alignment with company value creation goals.
- Display competency in procurement technology platforms (e-sourcing, spend analysis, contract management) required to enhance efficiency and optimize processes.
