Job Description
Step into the courtroom and help shape the future of insurance defense litigation! As a Trial Attorney with Allstate’s Client Legal Services team, you’ll defend insured clients and the company in bodily injury, property damage, and general liability cases. You’ll gain hands-on litigation experience through trials, arbitrations, and mediations, while also counseling internal clients and staying ahead of new legal developments. This is a dynamic role designed to provide real courtroom advocacy and strong mentorship to early-career attorneys building their trial practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to ensure favorable outcomes for clients.
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports.
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Interview clients and witnesses, as well as drafting summaries of their statements and maintaining communication records.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; may represent the company or clients in routine matters.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.
Education
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Connecticut State Bar.

- Seeking candidates with entry-level to early career experience in trial advocacy
- Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
