Job Description
The Object Storage Product Engineer manages, administers, and implements engineering best practices for Allstate’s on premises S3 object storage infrastructure. This role encompasses contributing to detailed on-premises object storage infrastructure design as well as implementation, testing and coordination of operational maintenance associated with Allstate’s S3 environment. The Object Storage Product engineer will be responsible for lifecycle management, as well as the development and deployment of new capabilities within the on-premises S3 infrastructures. Additionally, the Object Storage Product engineer will act as the SME (subject matter expert) for all internal client needs and S3 related infrastructure projects. The Object Storage Product Engineer will also be accountable for the certification, security, and implementation of new hardware, software, and capabilities for S3 related technologies.
The internal Allstate job title used for this role is Infrastructure Solutions Engineer Lead Consultant.
Scope of Responsibilities:

Enterprise S3 storage management and administration

Automation of storage administration and management as needed.

Protect enterprise storage against security vulnerabilities and attacks

Engagement with internal business functions, other IT support organizations, and multiple diverse application support teams

Contribute to a team of 5-7 object storage engineers
Key Responsibilities:

Build long-term relationships within team and amongst peers by creating an environment of safety, innovation, integrity, and honest open communication.

Initiate and implement continuous improvements in the Object Storage infrastructure environment, including automation of complex tasks and delivery of object storage capabilities.
-
Partner with others in the organization to set and manage expectations associated with Allstate’s Object Storage Infrastructure, continually seek opportunities to be a thought partner and deepen relationships.
-
Design/create/automate S3 storage solutions to meet business unit requirements.
-
Contribute to the lifecycle management of object storage platforms.
-
Introduce and deploy new storage capabilities through the introduction and deployment of new technologies.

Develop and deploy storage automation to improve service delivery.
-
Represent the Object Storage team in collaborative efforts and projects with internal clients and other infrastructure teams.

Maintain a relationship with on-prem S3 storage vendors and stay abreast of their latest technology offerings and recommend new capabilities that provide value to Allstate.

Establish, implement, and perform storage management functions that ensure the resiliency, maintainability, and security of the storage infrastructure.

Adhere to policies and practices associated with change management, incident management, problem management, and release management in the on-premises S3 storage infrastructure.

Research and respond to inquiries regarding solution alternatives, execution or delivery.
-
Effectively manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Produce policy, best practice, and procedural documentation for S3 storage related software and hardware implemented in the storage infrastructure.

Perform testing of new software and firmware patches to the storage environment and produce documentation for rolling out the software.

Monitor on-premises S3 storage usage and assist with capacity management for all datacenters.

Provide escalation support for on-premises S3 storage infrastructure

Take actions as needed to improved the performance, availability, and resiliency of the on-premises S3 storage platform.
Qualifications:

5 or more years of experience with S3 Object Storage platforms (e.g., Scality, Amazon S3, Dell, NetApp, or equivalent)
-
Experience working in a geographically dispersed team environment
-
Experience with Linux system administration
-
Experience with Automation Scripting (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent)
-
Experience in developing storage related automation
-
Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins or equivalent
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role does not have supervisory duties.

Compensation offered for this role is 100,000.00 – 170,500.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
