Job description:
As an Actuarial Consultant on the Reserving team, you will be part of the Finance Team at Allstate Canada Group (ACG). In Reserving team, we focus on the reserve analysis process and accurate posting of reserves while working closely with other areas such as Claims and Finance in order to make sure we are making the right decisions for the company and taking full advantage of each area’s expertise. The candidate may also be exposed to the development/update of the capital model. The Reserving team is part of the Actuarial program at Allstate and comes with the opportunity to rotate within the other actuarial roles during your career (Pricing, Actuarial Financial Modelling etc.). You will report to the Manager, Reserving.
As an Actuarial Consultant, your strength will be the analytics knowledge you bring to the table to ensure efficient and effective completion of the quarterly reserving reviews and recurring processes as well as developing or improving existing tools and standards implemented in order to enhance performance. We are looking for a confident individual with strong analytical abilities, prioritization and time management and communication skills. An ambitious individual who is eager to influence and drive the results for the organization would be a great fit for this role.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure efficient and effective completion of quarterly valuations and collaborate with Claims department to identify pressure points and drivers of the results
- Recommend and prepare bookings of IBNR for the quarterly reserve review
- Assist in the Annual Preparation of the Appointed Actuary’s Report
- Support Finance by analyzing and articulating the drivers of monthly financial results and assisting with quarterly regulatory reporting
- Provide analytical assistance to business partners in enhancing operational excellence and supporting sustainable profitable growth of the business
- Proactively manage project timelines, anticipating and addressing potential delays through consistent tracking and reporting
- Collaborate with the Business Planning team for the annual planning process
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 4 years Property and Casualty experience in an analytical position, ideally in corporate actuarial
- Strong knowledge of CIA Standards of Practice and regulatory requirements
- Good knowledge of corporate actuarial concepts
- Strong communication skills and comfortable presenting to various audiences
- Ability to adapt and utilize new ideas, techniques and opportunities for improving effectiveness, performance, and productivity
- Efficient at using Microsoft applications
Bonus Qualifications:
- ACAS or FCAS designation nice to have
- ResQ experience an asset
