Job Description
Team and overall work scope
- The team operates within a newly established Exposure Management function in the broader cybersecurity organization, focused on modernizing how the enterprise identifies, prioritizes, and mitigates security vulnerabilities shifting from traditional patch approaches to a more strategic focus on true business risk and exploitability
- Individual Contributor/ Service Lead Consultant roles are designed to bring in deep respective domain expertise (network, endpoint, cloud, identity, infrastructure, Databases & Data Stores, Applications, API’s etc.) to bridge the gap between security insights and practical remediation strategies

The role applies CTEM principles to connect findings to real attack paths and partners with engineering teams to drive remediation that measurably reduces exploitable exposure.
The role:
- This is a software engineering but security related role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and has practical experience incorporating security into application design, development, testing, or remediation.
- You do not need to be an Application Security specialist. The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who understands how applications and APIs can be exposed to security risks and is interested in helping engineering teams build more resilient solutions.
- You will work across software engineering and cybersecurity teams to evaluate application and API risks, understand how vulnerabilities may affect the broader technology environment, and help translate security findings into practical engineering improvements.
Why This Role
This opportunity is well suited for a software engineer who wants to remain close to code and technical problem-solving while expanding their influence in application security. You will have the opportunity to improve individual applications while also helping shape broader engineering patterns that make software more secure from the start.
If you are an experienced software engineer who enjoys building dependable systems, improving existing applications, and solving security-related engineering challenges, we would like to hear from you.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means helping engineering teams resolve meaningful application and API risks without losing sight of software quality, delivery, and maintainability. Your work will contribute to:
- Fewer exploitable application and API attack paths.
- Faster and more effective remediation of software vulnerabilities.
- Reduced recurrence of common coding and design weaknesses.
- More accurate prioritization of application security findings.
- Stronger collaboration between software engineering and cybersecurity teams.
- Greater adoption of secure engineering practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
What You’ll Do- Key Responsibilities (Core + Domain)
Exposure Intelligence (Core)
- Translate application findings into exposure intelligence and exploitability-based prioritization.
- Identify attack paths involving auth flaws, insecure APIs, weak session handling, and privilege boundaries.
- Produce clear remediation guidance and partner with app owners to validate closure.
Applications & APIs (Domain)
- Own SME coverage for web/app/API exposure including OWASP-class risks and API misuse patterns.
- Identify systemic patterns: broken auth, insecure direct object references, injection paths, weak access controls, insecure secrets handling.
- Partner with dev teams and AppSec stakeholders to improve secure patterns and reduce recurring exposure creation.
What You Bring- Qualifications
- Professional experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting modern software applications.
- Strong programming and software engineering fundamentals, including experience working with production code, APIs, service integrations, and distributed application environments.
- Experience building or supporting web applications, backend services, APIs, microservices, or cloud-based applications.
- Working knowledge of secure coding practices and common application or API security risks.
- Hands-on experience addressing security findings, improving vulnerable code, participating in security reviews, or partnering with Application Security teams.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and turn them into practical, maintainable engineering solutions.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, architecture, product, operations, and cybersecurity teams.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risk and remediation options to different audiences.
Experience That Would Be Helpful
- Familiarity with common web and API risks, including the OWASP Top 10 and API security concepts.
- Exposure to static or dynamic application security testing tools, commonly referred to as SAST and DAST.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, access controls, session management, and privilege boundaries.
- Experience with API gateways, microservices, cloud-native applications, or modern service architectures.
