Job Description
The Measurement Science Lead Consultant combines deep analytical expertise with strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills. This role is responsible for defining and ensuring high-quality measurement practices across Claims. This role serves as a strategic leader and subject matter expert, partnering with business and analytics teams to ensure initiatives are measured accurately, enabling confident, data-driven decision making. Reducing the risk of misinformed decisions is critical to the future success of Allstate.
The role is guided by 3 core pillars.
• Consult: We have short term consulting engagements with teams across claims. These engagements are used to provide feedback and course correct measurement on specific projects.
• Embed: We have long-term engagements. This role periodically serves as a dedicated resource within business and product teams, providing hands-on analytical support, domain expertise, and partnership to help achieve strategic objectives.
• Educate: We help educate claims leaders and employees on how to think about and execute with measurement science.
Communication & Stakeholder Influence
- Translate complex analytical concepts into clear business recommendations.
- Present findings, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Build strong partnerships across Claims, Analytics, Technology and Finance.
- Lead complex measurement engagements involving multiple stakeholders.
Measurement Strategy & Consulting
- Partner with business leaders to define business objectives, success metrics, assumptions, and measurement approaches.
- Provide consultative expertise on measurement design and business outcomes. Ensure analyses are accurate, defensible, and aligned to business objectives.
- Identify measurement risks and opportunities that could impact decision quality.
- Promote consistent measurement standards, frameworks, and best practices.
Experimental Design & Evaluation
- Design and execute experiments, quasi-experiments, and observational studies.
- Apply statistical and causal inference methods to evaluate business initiatives.
- Establish baselines, control groups, and success criteria to support valid attribution.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, data science, measurement science, economics, statistics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience designing experiments, causal inference analyses, or program evaluations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience influencing decisions through analytics and business consulting.
- Experience working in matrixed organizations and partnering with senior business stakeholders.
- Claims experience preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong expertise in statistical analysis, experimentation, and causal inference.
- Experience with advanced analytics tools and programming languages (Python, R, SQL).
- Strong business acumen and ability to connect analytics to business outcomes.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
