The Sr. Engineering Manager is the direct leader of more critical groups with significant responsibilities. Sr. Engineering Managers are expected to build relationships throughout the organization to ensure whole-company alignment and support for their goals, and vice-versa. This role demands deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, React, SQL, and ETL tools along with emerging capabilities in LLMs, Agentic AI, and LangChain. The ideal candidate will be a strategic technical leader, driving architecture, innovation, and delivery across a high-volume, data-intensive platform.
You will lead engineering efforts to modernize legacy data platform/systems, architect scalable microservices, and integrate advanced AI capabilities into our data flows. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our Agency Pay platform and broader engineering ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Lead: Design and implement scalable microservices and data pipelines using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and ETL Tools. Design and implement reusable React components with a focus on modularity and scalability.
- Collaborate: Work closely with IT/platform Architects, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define the platform's technical and business functionality.
- AI Integration: Design and implement intelligent agents using LangChain and LLMs to automate decision-making and enhance platform intelligence.
- Modernization: Lead migration of legacy systems to cloud-native, event-driven architectures.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to define and deliver platform capabilities.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and mentor engineers across geographies, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Champion best practices in CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization.
- Design Reviews & Retrospectives: Promote empathy, feedback, and continuous improvement through structured team rituals
- Provide leadership in planning, task definition, reporting, and problem-solving across geographically distributed teams.
- Implement performance testing, monitoring, and optimization practices using modern tools and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- 15–18 years of hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and SQL.
- Strong front-end experience with React and integration with backend services.
- Proven experience in cloud-native architectures (Azure preferred).
- Familiarity with big data tools like Spark, Hadoop.
- Expertise in ETL tools (Ab-initio) for data processing and orchestration.
- Experience in LLM integration, LangChain, and Agentic AI frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in leading distributed teams and delivering complex systems at scale.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience building agentic workflows using LangChain, integrating LLMs for task automation, and deploying AI-driven services in production.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and stream processing.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in enterprise environments.
